MLP comic Annual 2013, Equestria Girls prequel. Aka the origins of Sunset Shimmer.
I liked this comic. If you like Sunset Shimmer, it's a must read.
If you like EqG too, but let's go for Sunset.
First off, we get to see Sunset when she was a cute little filly, when she was in Celestia's school for gifted unicorns. And she nailed it.
Funny to see her and Twilight could've met as fillies.
The moment everything goes to shit.
Then, Celestia show the mirror. The infamous mirror, who can allow alternate reality travel, and show future.
Dumb Celestia. Sunset saw herself as a Princess.
And of course, she refused to take care of it and explain her what was wrong. Because it worked so well the last time.
Is G1 canon? Look at the book at the bottom.
Of course, Sunset will seek answers herself. Celestia overreact and banish her from Canterlot Castle. Way to go, worst princess. Then we see Sunset escape and go through the mirror.
Now the real fun begin.
The next part is mostly EqG, Sunset interview the Mane 5, we see part of their past, how the met, Rainbow making it into the Wonderbolt, Applejack's struggle to be accepted, Fluttershy at her job, and how they became friends. Not a lot of Shimmer here, but still nice to know.
The scene is in place.
Overall, it was quite long and interesting to read. The scenario fit the canon and fill a void about the past of Sunset Shimmer and EqG. And eh, comics are canon. =P
The art itself is not too good, but at least, it's not Jay Fosgitt's art. So it could be worse.
